Prius Minivan to Debut in 2011!

2011 toyota prius alpha rendering Prius Minivan to Debut in 2011!

Toyota is due to release a Prius minivan that will be called the Toyota Prius Alpha.   The debut is set to take place in March of 2011.  The new Prius minivan features a lithium ion battery that is lighter and capable of generating more power.  Along with the new Prius, GM will be releasing its own updated Lincoln MKZ hybrid in 2011 which can go up to 47 mph in all-electric mode, and may be found at local dealers such as this New Hampshire Lincoln Dealer.  Both models are expected to be somewhat high in terms of price range, but savings might be found at a Winston-Salem bad credit car lot.

The Prius minivan has a sleek and concise design, and it’s amazing that it can fit up to 7 people, although might be a  tight fit for taller folks.  The Prius Alpha will be 12 inches longer than the Prius and the fuel efficiency is expected to be less than the Prius as it will be heavier.  The Alpha has 3 rows of seats.  The new lithium ion battery is Toyota’s latest battery technology that is designed to be more fuel efficient, have a greater energy output, and also be lighter than the current Prius’s nickel-hydride battery.

A 5-seater is expected to be released, and this model will have nickel-hydride batteries in order to save money on production.  The electric motor will run at 81 horsepower and the gasoline motor will run at 98 horsepower, with a combined maximum power output of 135 horsepower.

The new Prius will allow environmentally conscious families to have a minivan that is greener than most of the competing models on the market.  Toyota has been shy about release details on the new Toyota minivan, but some have said that they intend to keep the price similar to other minivans on the market.  MotorTrend’s insider source says that Toyota intends to sell the Alpha for $27,625.
