rav4ev waterfall 300x277 Toyota reveals electric RAV4;Toyota will be releasing an electric RAV4 model, which will be a competitor to SUV models sold at a Maryland Honda dealership, although there no model quite like the upcoming RAV4. It will be an electric vehicle with a 100 mile range and based on the RAV4 platform. Toyota has teamed up with Tesla to provide the battery technology that will be used on the new RAV4, and other high quality electric-hybrid models can be purchased from a Honda Troy dealership. The 100 mile range is possible with the latest battery technology that Tesla and Toyota have combined to develop, and similar technology can be found on models sold at a Honda Dealership Los Angeles.

Toyota will be building 35 electric RAV4 models for demonstration purposes in 2011. The current RAV4 is built in Canada and uses Tesla battery technology, with the full model due to be released in 2012. The full engineered RAV4 will have a range of 100 miles in a variety of climates. Toyota worked with Tesla to provide a vehicle that had a large range and a fast development. The demonstration vehicle weighs more than the current RAV4 V6 but it can accelerate nearly as quickly, and is quite similar to the current RAV4.

However, like any other vehicle out on the automotive market this hybrid does have a few draw backs. This includes engine power. While the Toyota Prius does offer you a zippy ride it does not have the raw power you want. Another seat back to this hybrid is the driving position it offers. While it is a comfortable ride it is also a weird way to drive. This hybrid does redeem it’s self in the cargo space it offers. While it is not an SUV the Toyota Prius does offer the most cargo room for it’s class.

I wouldnt recomend this hybrid for first time buyers due to the 23,000 starting price, but I would recomend it for small families. It is also the vehicle for any one who is looking for a great ride to and from work every day, and this hybrid wont break the bank at the gas pumps.

Toyota to Invest in Tesla at Highly Anticipated IPO.

In a highly anticipated initial public offering (IPO) of its stock, Tesla, a North American Silicon Valley based experimental auto manufacturer expects to raise $185 million.  Toyota is also expected to purchase $50 million of the stock offering.  GM hopes to compete with Toyota in the hybrid market with their Chevy Malibu Hybrid, Tahoe Hybrid, and Chevy Silverado Hybrid, which can be found at New Jersey Chevrolet dealers and other local dealers.

Tesla is currently the only auto manufacturer selling highway capable 100% electric vehicles in serial production.  Other automakers are currently producing prototype 100% electric models, but the is anticipated delays before serial production of these models.  Tesla currently produces approximately 15 cars per week.

Approximately 11.1 million shares will be offered in the IPO from between $14 to $16 per share.  Tesla has produced over 1,000 Roadsters, a luxury battery powered sports car, and it will release its $50,000 Model S sedan in 2010 with full volume production.   The Roadster retails for $109,000.  The sales of shares will begin the week of June 28.

The IPO should help Tesla with its operating costs as Tesla has struggled since its inception with profitability.  Tesla has also received funding from the government to offset their high research, operating, and production costs.  It is also anticipated that Tesla may partner with Toyota in the near future to produce a new Toyota model that utilizes some of Tesla’s advanced battery technology.

Tesla has received funding from the United States Department of Energy for $465 million, but it has operated with a continual profit loss of around $300 million.  Tesla reported $20.8 million in revenue and a net loss of $29.5 million for the first quarter of 2010.  Tesla does not anticipate turning a profit until the 2012 release of the Model S sedan.

With the IPO funding, Tesla may be able to increase their profitability and production for the Roadster before the expected 2012 boost in sales from the S sedan.

Toyota announced last May that they would be investing $50 million in Tesla stock.  However, it remains to be seen on whether or not Toyota and Tesla will actually partner to create a new hybrid or electric Toyota model.  Pre-owned Toyotas can be purchased at a Cincinnati Used Car dealer.   Other import cars such as Mazda can be serviced at a  Sarasota Mazda Service.

A recent Wall Street Journal report stated that Tesla released a statement saying, “We have not entered into any agreements with Toyota for any such arrangements, including any purchase orders, and we may never do so.”

This may have been disheartening news to Toyota fans who were anticipating a “green supercar” that would combine Tesla’s latest battery technology with Toyota’s advanced car manufacturing technology.  Toyota is known for high resale value, and reliable technology even though Toyota has suffered image problems from the infamous accelerator problem.

Since Tesla used the word “may” in the statement, the possibility remains that Toyota and Tesla may in fact surprise everyone and partner to create a new vehicle.  Rumors have been floating around that Tesla may have even already begun production of a vehicle that would be released in 2010 or 2011.  The Nikkei newspaper from Japan reported that, “Upon forming capital and business ties last month, Toyota and Tesla said that they will jointly develop electric vehicles and share expertise…”

If the report is true, then Toyota and Tesla will in fact be producing a new automobile.  Time will tell if the report is true, but the thought of a new model that combines the best of both Tesla’s battery technology and Toyota’s car technology is exciting.  The new automobile might help Tesla out of its financial struggles.  Tesla has accumulated losses of nearly $300 million from 2007 to 2010, and it does not anticipate the losses to slow down until 2010 when it releases its new Model S sedan.
