American auto makers, like Fond Du Lac Chevrolet Dealerships, have also turned their attention back to the concept of the four-cylinder engine.  Mazda has yet to produce a hybrid vehicle in the United States, but they understand that their customers are demanding more fuel economy.  Their plan is to go back to the basics; the internal combustion engine.  If you lower the weight of the engine and the body, tweak the engine and transmission performance, then you can squeeze out a few more miles per gallon.  At least that is the plan for the SKY G and SKY D engines.

Consumers will get the first image of the SKY G engine in the 2011 Mazda3.  It will feature a 2.0 liter direct injection four-cylinder engine that produces 158 horsepower and 151 pound feet of torque.  By the end of 2015, Mazda wants their overall fuel efficiency to increase by 30% for their U.S. line up.  Not only does the SKY G weigh less due to a die-cast open-deck block and forged rods and crankshaft, it has smoother performance to reduce friction.  Drivers of the 2011 Mazda3 can expect to get upwards of 40 mpg!
