Audi’s Green Car of the Year!

Audi A3 TDI Audis Green Car of the Year!

Let’s take a step away from reporting about the Volt, which hopefully will soon be available at a FL Chevrolet Dealer.  With everyone trying to be green these days, it isn’t surprising that it is difficult to come across a hybrid at Salt Lake City Used Cars.  Some dealerships are making the switch to hybrid a no-brainer, such as Lincoln who is offering their 2011 Hybrid MKZ at the same entry price of $35,180, just like the regular gasoline MKZ.  The 2010 Audi A3 TDI was named Green Car of the Year, finally beating out the popular Volkswagen Jetta TDI, available at any VW Dealer.

For two years running a diesel engine model has won Green Car of the Year from Green Car Journal.  The Audi A3 TDI can be proud that they beat out strong competition like the Mercury Milan Hybrid, the Toyota Prius, the VW Golf TDI, the VW Jetta TDI, and the Honda Insight Hybrid.  Drivers of the Audi A3 TDI will enjoy getting 42 mpg on the highway, which is about 50% better than the standard gasoline edition.  Environmentalists favor the car because the clean diesel engine has few emissions, and qualifies in all 50 states for emission regulations.

This luxury car has a base price of $29,950 but comes with a wide offering of standard features.  Plus, the exterior design is sleek and modern, especially for a sports wagon design.  Standard features include 17 inch alloy wheels, LED running lights, leather upholstery, SIRIUS satellite radio, and the convenience of a 60/40 rear folding backseat.

Drivers love the hatchback part of the Audi A3, claiming it makes loading and unloading cargo a breeze.  Plus, the iPod connection and Bluetooth system that Audi provides are easy to use and are comparable to other hand’s free systems.  However, the navigation system that you can opt for can be difficult to learn and sometimes operates slower than you need it to.  Overall, this is a great car and it makes sense it earned Green Car of the Year!
