Nissan will limit the rollout of its anticipated Leaf model to only 200 cars this December. Nissan is following a similar rollout to GM’s Chevy Volt which will also be released in only certain areas, although many thought that the Leaf would have higher initial numbers. The Ford Fusion hybrid can be purchased from a local Ford Dealer Philadelphia today and is one of the best hybrid models on the market. The Leaf will go on sale in five states in a similar rollout plan to the Volt: Tennessee, Arizona, Oregon, California, and Washington. The latest hybrid and electric vehicle market will feature several high quality models such as the Toyota Prius which is found at a Toyota Dealer Minneapolis and many other dealerships. There was a $99.00 reservation fee for getting the Leaf and customers were selected at random to be able to purchase the model.

This whole movement is courtesy of the Obama administration trying to enforce a law from 2007 that requires auto companies to provide consumers with comparable information when purchasing a vehicle. Not only would there be the comparisons for fuel economy estimates but also the levels of green house gases emitted and other smog pollution contributors. The comparison must cover electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids and conventional gasoline and diesel vehicles.
Environmental groups are in favor of this idea, primarily for the fact that Americans are visual shoppers. If you see your new car is really low on the scale of fuel economy and you realize that there is so much better available, you might change your mind to a
greener car choice. Auto industry executives oppose it for the same reason! Plus, the scale would be slightly skewed because of the introduction of new electric vehicles. Maybe a happy compromise would be comparable information within a given car class?
