Following recent rave reviews at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, German automaker Porsche has announced that it will make limited models of its 918 Spyder plug-in concept vehicle available for purchase! Richmond Ford Dealers and their popular hybrid models (Escape and Fusion, for example) might have something to do with the elite luxury maker’s decision to go green. The diesel engine options at your local VW Dealer are causing manufacturer’s to become increasingly competitive with one another. Many auto industry analysts never thought that the high class expensive brands would need to jump on the green band wagon to stay competitive. Even the trucks are trying to go green, but we have yet to see a green version of the F-series Inventory, despite rumor mill gossip.
So why did Porsche decide to make a green vehicle? Are they perhaps feeling pressure from other companies? It is highly unlikely that the daily driving market sales have influenced the exotic car market in the least. Porsche is excited to make this plug-in hybrid concept car a reality to please their fans. The consumer response was overwhelming at the Geneva Auto Show, and Porsche is merely answering the demands of its public.
The 918 Spyder Hybrid has yet to be priced, but experts are guessing that the price tag will be roughly around $650,000. Porsche has a goal to make the Spyder go from o to 60 mph in less than 3.2 seconds! Also, the top speed needs to be 218 mph. All this will be possible due to the 3.4 liter V8 engine producing 500 horsepower coupled with two 109 horsepower electric motors. Each electric motor will be on an axle and connected to a Lithium-ion battery pack. All of this work will be manufactured in Germany.
Currently, there are three electic vehicles being driven on a daily basis to gather information. Porsche is using that research to help further design and fine-tune the 918 Spyder Porsche Hybrid Plug-In.

The nice thing that the Volt does is that after driving for 40 miles on an electric charge, the gas engine kicks in to recharge the electric components, so drivers are able to drive 340 miles. Buyers are able to preorder the Volt and should have it by the end of 2010.
The Nissan Leaf is first going to be released in California this December. And to put buyers at ease and lessen the competition, Nissan has decided to match GM’s eight year 100,000 mile battery warranty that is already in place for the Chevy Volt.
